Field mission in Tamil Nadu

With Sulochana, from Colombo, we visited Solidar members' projects in the Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu, India. The objective of this visit was to exchange work experiences between Solidar members working in India and Sri Lanka, but also for me to simply finally visit the projects!

The Nagapattinam programme was set up following the humanitarian crisis caused by the 2004 tsunami. In continuation to pre-existing cooperation between Volkshilfe and the local NGO People's Development Association (PDA), a reconstruction and rehabilitation programme for 16 villages in the Nagapattinam District was developed with the support of Progetto Sviluppo, La Ligue/Solidarité Laïque and ASB.

On the 29th September, we inaugurated a school built by PDA with the support of La Ligue and Solidarité Laique.

I also visited the local NGO Nangal in Pondicherry, created by Dany, an incredible person! This NGO receives the support of Solidarité Laïque. Nangal activities are implemented in Thazhanguda, in the Cuddalore district, mainly in the field of education.

Fin de semana bajo la nieve

El mes pasado fuimos a visitar a Cathe en Servoz… creo que hasta ahora fue el único fin de semana que tuvieron con nieve!! La pasamos de maravilla, también con Grace, Evelyne, Sapo y Olga, entre raclettes, tartiflette, batallas de nieve… También fue muy lindo conocer al famoso Bobo… para hacerle publicidad, aquí va el website del hotel! www.hoteldesgorges.com

Where to go??

The map below showing the parts of the world I have visited (World66). The important information here… all the countries I haven’t visited yet! It's hard to establish priorities but top of the list for new countries to visit are: Canada (Mila), Argentina (Bati, Steph and Nico), Vietnam (Fina…), Nicaragua (Virg), Greece (Theo). There are also lots of places I still want to visit in countries I already know such as USA (to visit family, Chino and Ulises), my own country (Sicilia and Sardenia), Spain (Andalusia), India, Portugal and of course New Zeland (South Island). A lot of holidays planning to do!!

Le mois dernier, je suis allee a Bucarest, invitee pour assister a une serie de reunion sur la protection de l’enfance et sa promotion à travers le développement d’un réseau régional. Le programme PROCOPIL, coordonné par Solidarité Laïque, est l’illustration parfaite de la solidarité et représente un élément fondamental pour la construction d’une Europe – au sens large – plus forte, plus sociale et plus juste.

Le premier comité régional du PROCOPIL a été, à mon avis, un vrai succès par la richesse des échanges et par l’engagement à long terme entre les délégations française, roumaine, bulgare et moldave. L’originalité et la force de ce comité a été de rassembler des représentants d’institutions publiques et d’associations non gouvernementales en leur permettant ainsi de renforcer les liens de coopération au niveau national et régional.
